Michael von Hauff-head of the Department of political economy, Professor of Economics and economic policy at the technical University of Kaiserlautern, Germany. Professor von Hauff is a member of the editorial boards of a number of international journals, such as Progress in Industrial Ecology – international Journal and international quarterly journal of Asian Studies. Professor von Hauff is also a member of national and international organizations, including The European Academy of arts and Sciences.

The importance of innovation for sustainable development
During the autumn session of the project "Social Sciences and practice for sustainable development", implemented by the Institute of sustainable development strategy and the School of urban transformation of ITMO University with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Germany and a number of partner organizations, a regular public lecture was held, followed by a discussion on "the Importance of innovation for sustainable development". Professor of Economics and economic policy at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, Michael von Hauff gave the lecture. Within the framework of the lecture and discussion with Professor von Hauff, the discussion on the diversity of the science of sustainable development and understanding of the necessary conditions for its practical implementation was continued.
