Dr. Joachim Spangenberg, economist, ecologist, biologist, works professionally in the field of macro Economics at the Helmholtz Centre for environmental research on sustainable development strategies and indicators, environmental conflicts, assessment of ecosystem services and economic growth. The Helmholtz centre for environmental research is Germany's largest state centre for environmental research, headquartered in Leipzig. Since 1999. Dr. Joachim Spangenberg is also Vice President of the research Institute for sustainable Europe (SERI), Vienna, Austria, and President of its division in Germany.

"Cascade model" of ecosystem services (ESG), human factor, benefits, assessment and spatial mismatch"
On September 26 took place the second public lecture by Dr. Joachim Spangenberg, a member of the Center for the Study of the Environment to them. "Sustainable urban development strategies"
On September 29, 2014, the Round table "Strategies for sustainable urban development: European experience and prospects for Russia" was held with the participation of Dr. Joachim Spangenberg, an employee of the center for environmental Studies. Helmholtz (UFZ), Halle/Saale, Germany and Professor Urban strategies University of Applied Sciences, Fontys, Tilburg, the Netherlands, Director of the Academy of Architecture and urbanism Mark Gaudemus. The round table discussed the necessary solutions for the renovation of cities, taking into account innovative opportunities, past mistakes, environmental, social and economic criteria for sustainable development.
